Charity Care & Community Benefit

Consistent with its Mission and Statement of Philosophy, Palos Community Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality health care services to all members of the community. The hospital provides these services consistently and compassionately, without regard to an individual's ability to pay.

Uninsured and underinsured patients who demonstrate an inability to pay for health care services are eligible for discounts on the cost of care.

PCH offers assistance for patients and families with limited financial means. Our social workers can identify health care resources in the community that patients can contact for low-cost or reduced-fee medical care. The hospital's financial counselors help patients work out financial terms that meet their needs, and also help identify local, state and federal programs that can assist them in meeting their financial obligations.

We understand that circumstances occasionally arise that prevent the payment of a bill. In such situations, we must rely on our patients to keep us informed. We will do whatever we can to help patients who demonstrate their willingness to pay for their hospital care.

Patients who can pay, but choose not to, compromise our ability to provide quality, affordable health care. The hospital employs collection agencies only as a last resort.

For assistance with a specific patient account or for more information about our charity care program, contact our Customer Service department at (866) 395-4723.
