Some research suggests that patients who undergo pre-operative exercise may be better prepared for surgery and may be able to reach their post surgery goals with greater ease. The Palos Community Hospital Pre-Habilitation Program is a unique, one-hour, fun and interactive instructional session intended to teach you some simple exercises which you can do at home. These exercises are targeted towards working your muscles that you will need to use during your rehabilitation after surgery. We will ask you to work only within your comfort level during class, but if you have a significant medical history, you may want to talk to your physician about whether it is permissible to attend or if there are any restrictions that you should adhere to during class.
Please wear comfortable clothes and non-skid shoes to class.
The class meets in the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) on the lower (ground) level at Palos Community Hospital. To access the ACC, take the south (main entrance) drive, to the back of the hospital. Valet parking is available at no charge from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternatively, you may park in the Physical Therapy parking lot. Enter the building through the Physical Therapy entrance. Follow the signs to the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).
