Palos Community Hospital and Palos Diagnostic
Center Earn MRI
Accreditation
Palos Community Hospital
and Palos Diagnostic
Center in Tinley
Park have each been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American College
of Radiology (ACR). MRI is a noninvasive medical test that uses magnetic fields
to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose
and treat medical conditions.
The ACR gold seal
of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient
safety in the industry. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice
Guidelines and Technical Standards following a peer-review evaluation by
board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
To earn this honor, Palos Community Hospital
and Palos Diagnostic Center
underwent a thorough assessment of their MRI equipment and image quality,
personnel qualifications, quality control procedures and quality assurance
programs.
“Receiving MRI
accreditation is recognition that the outpatient services Palos offers to the
community are of the highest quality,” said Vicki McFarlane, Administrative
Director of Radiology. “The qualifications and skills of our staff and the
quality of our equipment and images are among the finest in the country.”
The ACR is a
national professional organization serving more than 34,000
diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine
physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of
medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health
care services.
Palos Community Hospital and Palos Diagnostic Center use
state-of-the-art technology to provide one of the most comprehensive ranges of
