Cancer Care

Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening ordeal that can significantly impact every aspect of your life. Recognizing this, Palos Community Hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient health care services to meet all of your oncology needs.

Oncology Unit

Our Oncology unit provides care and services for patients experiencing the various stages of cancer, from diagnosis through surgical and chemotherapeutic treatment. The unit also provides short-stay service (eight hours or less) for patients in need of cancer related intravenous or treatment modalities.

Nursing care is individualized with evaluation and pain relief constituting a major focus.

Detection and Treatment

Various hospital departments participate in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Radiology provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services that include general radiology, nuclear medicine, computed tomography, MRI, interventional procedures, ultrasound and digital mammography. Such diagnostic services as stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies also are offered. Close coordination with Pathology ensures patients receive a timely report on all biopsies.

Palos Community Hospital offers prostate screenings to men over the age of 40. The hospital offers a program for patients afflicted with lymphedema, which includes one-on-one counseling and program development based on individual patient needs.

(Physicians who may provide treatment to cancer patients are neither employees nor agents of Palos Community Hospital.)
