Spine, Neck & Back Care
Our Spine, Neck
and Back program provides care to patients with a degenerative spine condition,
a deforming spine condition, or trauma to the spine, neck or back. More than 80
percent of the population will experience spine, back or neck complaints at
some point during their lifetime. For most, it is a self-limiting condition of
short duration. However, when the pain takes on a lengthy course and does not
resolve with simple measures, it can become a frightening experience.
The Spine, Neck
and Back program at Palos
Community Hospital
is intended to quickly determine the cause of pain, devise a treatment plan
that is mutually agreed upon between you and the physician, and set the goal of
returning you to a pain-free and active life as soon as possible.
In
cases where surgery becomes the best course of treatment, the surgeon will
discuss your options and involve you in the decision-making process to
determine the best course of care. Our comprehensive pre-operative education
program takes a patient step-by-step through the process of preparing for
surgery and the course of care during the hospital stay. This education program
will answer questions, alleviate fears and allow the patient to partner with
the hospital to optimize care throughout the surgery and recovery period. This
equates to superior care.
