Rehabilitative Tests & Treatments

Palos Community Hospital's Rehabilitative Services Department provides both comprehensive physician consultation and testing, as well as Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy services. Ongoing communication between the patient, therapist and physician is regarded as a means to integrate the best treatment interventions for you and your condition.

Physician Consultation/EMG Testing

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians, often referred to as physiatrists, are available to assist with a variety of disorders that cause pain, difficulty walking, swelling, wounds, or other orthopedic and neurologic conditions. In addition, they are board-certified in conducting Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Velocity tests, which often are ordered to evaluate various neurological conditions. Located within the Rehabilitative Services Department at Palos Community Hospital, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians are available to evaluate and assess your problems, and prescribe the necessary tests, medications, therapies or outside referrals.

Physical Therapy

The physical therapists and physical therapist assistants at Palos Community Hospital are experts in managing a variety of causes of pain and immobility, including many orthopedic, neurological, women's health and wound related conditions. In addition, Functional Capacity evaluations and Work Conditioning programs are available to assist you in getting back to work after an injury in a safe and timely manner.

Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapists at Palos Community Hospital specialize in managing injuries and conditions, specifically those affecting the fingers, hands, wrists and elbows. Whether your symptoms are orthopedic, neurological or congenital in nature, the occupational therapists at Palos Community Hospital are available to help you get back to your daily and/or occupational needs.

Speech Therapy

The speech therapists at Palos Community Hospital are experts in assisting individuals in managing conditions affecting their speech and swallowing. In addition to providing therapy to individuals of all ages, speech therapists also assist in video swallow studies, which assess swallowing ability.
